Currently, the specific apps audio tracks will include a track for each of the application that you have enabled audio recording on.
Problem:
However, it will not record any audio from new apps. This is potentially a problem in cases where, for example, I install an app or unrecognized game and it makes a funny sound which I clip. Then I find out later that the funny sound was not captured because I forgot to set Medal to record that specific app’s audio.
Solutions:
One solution I thought up is to have medal record all of the unchecked programs into a single audio track (to keep it less cluttered) which can capture the sounds of other programs I may have forgotten to set.
This would introduce a problem where it records audio from apps which I do not want recorded. For this, I believe an option to exclude unwanted apps would be appropriate (see attached image).
Additionally, it would be great to have an option to show the previously checked applications. It still saves a track for it anyway. Hiding them makes it confusing and hard to manage.
Another solution I thought of is to have a “default behaviour for new applications” which we can set to exclude or include by default, but I feel like that would be messy for the audio tracks.
Another solution I believe is to add an option to separate each PC audio device into unique tracks instead of one “All PC audio” track, as I described in https://feedback.medal.tv/1586 . This allows us to manage all audio handling using a different application like Voicemeeter.
Of course, these are just what I thought up. Would appreciate anyone with improved solutions. Much thanks!
